Βorn in 1974, Dr. Konsolakis graduated the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras, Patra, Greece, in 1997 and obtained his Ph.D. in 2001 from the same Department. Part of his Ph.D studies was carried out in the Department of Chemistry, in Cambridge University, in the context of Greek-British Joint Research and Technology Programme. Then he served his military service in the Hellenic Air Force Academy for one and a half year as a chemist responsible for the analysis of aircraft fuels and lubricants. After that he worked for two years as a product manager in an industrial gases company.
In 2004, he joined the Department of Sciences of the Technical University of Crete as a Lecturer in the field “Surface Analysis & Catalysis”. From February 2010 to June 2013 he served as Assistant Professor in the same department. In June 2013 he moved to the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete, where he is currently Associate professor.
He has been teaching since 2004 about ten (10) undergraduate and five (5) postgraduate courses, involving among others : General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Materials Science & Technology, Environmental Science & Technology, Surface Science & Heterogeneous Catalysis, Surface and structural analysis, etc. He also authored one book in the area of General chemistry and several lecture notes.
His research activities lie mainly in the areas of heterogeneous catalysis, materials science and surface science with particular emphasis on structure-property relationships in energy/environmental processes. His published work includes > 180 papers in international journals (>75) and conference proceedings (>110). His research work has been cited > 2000 times in the scientific literature (h-index=25). He is a member of the Editorial Board of eight (8) international journals. He also serves as a regular reviewer in > 70 scientific journals and several research funding agencies, while he is/was a member in the organizing and scientific committees of international and national conferences. He is/was the main researcher and/or coordinator in > 20 research programs financially supported by GSRT and EU. He was/is Guest Editor of the special issues “Surface Chemistry & Catalysis” and “Rational Design of Non-Precious Metal Oxide Catalysts by Means of Advanced Synthetic and Promotional Routes” of Catalysts Journal.
