Pavlos Fafalios

Brief CV: Pavlos Fafalios was born in Chios in 1985. He is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete. He received his Diploma from the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of the Aegean. He holds a Master's Degree in Information Systems and E-Commerce Technologies from the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete, and a PhD in Information Systems from the same department. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the L3S Research Center of the University of Hanover in Germany (2016-2019) as well as at the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH (2019-2023). In parallel, he was a visiting lecturer for four academic years at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (2020-2023). He specializes in Information Systems, and specifically in Information Retrieval and Semantic Knowledge Management, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research in these areas and the application of his research results in different disciplines. He has published more than 50 articles in international scientific journals, conference proceedings and collective volumes. He has worked in multiple research projects funded by Greek and European funds, and has received an individual fellowship for postdoctoral research from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European program Horizon 2020 for the project "ReKnow" (project code: 890861). Finally, he regularly participates in the program committee of international conferences in his field of research and acts as a reviewer in related scientific journals.
