Specialty: Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer

Brief CV: Dr. Polychronis Spanoudakis is a Laboratory Teaching Personnel at the School of Production Engineering and Management,Technical University of Crete (TUC), Greece. He received his Diploma from the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, University of Patras, Greece and the M.Sc and Ph.D. from the School of Production Engineering and Management, TUC, Greece. He has participated in numerous European and national research projects, as a senior researcher, technical manager and project coordinator. Since 2007, he is the project manager of TUC Eco Racing research team, which develops zero emission prototype vehicles and participates in international competitions targeting low energy consumption. At the same time is the project manager of Daedalus research team (since 2017), developing a high performance electric three wheel motorcycle with several innovative systems. He has been honored with several prizes and awards, as: the 2009 EURON Robotic Technology Transfer award, the TUC Excellent Research Achievements award in 2010, six international awards at the Shell Eco Marathon Europe (2010-2017) and the 2018 TUC Excellence in Teaching for Laboratory/Teaching Personnel award. His research is published in numerous scientific journals and conferences and he also serves as a reviewer in several scientific journals and conferences.

Education: Diploma (2001) in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, University of Patras, MSc (2003) and PhD (2013), School of Production Engineering and Management, Technical University of Crete, Greece.

Research Interests: Advanced transmission systems, Energy management systems for zero emission vehicles, Vehicle’s design and development, Structural analysis and optimization using Finite Element Analysis, Chassis and vehicle subsystems design and analysis, Advanced motorcycle front suspension development, Crash test analysis, Unmanned aerial/land/surface vehicles development, Manufacturing optimization in CNC machining.

Division: Production Systems.

Laboratory: Machine Tools Laboratory.

Teaching: Manufacturing Technology I & II (Laboratory), Computational Engineering Software (MSc in Product Design and Manufacturing), Machine Elements (2014-2019).
